The SITSelect festival is now in full swing and this weekend sees the start of the hugely popular Select Trail, in which the marvellous makers of the five valleys open up their studios. ( www.sitselect.org/sitselecttrail.html) It also sees the continuation of our exhibition programme (http://www.sitselect.org/textileexhibitions.html) and as you pass through Stroud, I urge you all to make time to call in at The Pink Cabbage gallery to see the latest addition, Paper Dreams.
Brought to us by the wonderfully named Sticky Paper Studio (http://www.stickypaperstudio.co.uk/Site/Sticky_Paper_Studio.html), a group of six artists – Gabriel Broad, Tamsin Golesworthy, Susi Harris, Diane Jeffries, Katie McTiffin and Liz Valenti – all of whom work in paper, Paper Dreams features a collection of two and three dimensional collage pieces inspired by fashion, textiles, pattern and ornament. The making process involves ripping, tearing, cutting, manipulating and sticking a cheap and readily-available material. The end results are exquisite works of art.
Paper Dreams, Sticky Paper runs at The Pink Cabbage, 1 Middle St, Stroud, GL5 1DZ until 24th May. Open Wednesday-Friday 10am-4pm; Saturdays 10am-5pm; Sundays 11am-4pm. 07855 128769; www.thepinkcabbage.co.uk
