Betty Harrison Cotswold Landscape

Allomorphic in Stroud

Inspired by Design

Allomorphic was first conceived as a shop which focused on well made and artisan gardening, we sourced carefully our projects from independent gardening journals to handmade gardeners bags, aprons and strings.  As the shop developed we introduced handmade tools and worked with local makers to introduce soaps and ceramic art works to our range.  With the opening of our second shop we realised we were interested in living beautifully but always being inspired by the garden  – it seemed with more space a natural fit that sculpture, paintings and making were also at our core, to this end we have started a collaboration with The Art Catalogue based in Cheltenham which manage one of the biggest art studios in Gloucestershire to bring artists and their work to our stores.
Opening on 21 September will be paintings by Betty Harrison.

‘’My paintings are mostly inspired by my love of the British landscape and in particular the subtle hues of autumn and winter. Mist shrouded beaches and snow clad fields and hillsides, mysterious forests and abandoned buildings in town or country all hold a fascination for me. My northern upbringing and my ancestry in the Orkney Islands of Scotland are perhaps the reasons why I am drawn to the understated sublimity of these shores. Some of my more recent work is also concerned with the depiction of animals and people in these landscapes.’’
