i have been looking at maps of Stroud and thinking about the importance of water in the textile industry past and present in Stroud. On the visit to Milliken’s at Lodgemore Mill last week it was interesting to hear that the water used in the mill continues to come from the local river.
There were so many mills in Stroud all very close to the water.
Below are a few experiments with an old map of Stroud circling the mills and digitally removing all but the water and mills .
